Radiologist
Specialties: Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology
Dr Amaranthi De Silva joined Imaging Associates in 2012 where she is a highly trained specialist in nuclear medicine. While also a general radiologist, her nuclear medicine physician work has provided her with a varied, interesting and challenging career. With a highly methodical and flexible approach, she has enjoyed travelling extensively with her work, which has also been published.
Ami attended the University of Melbourne, where she completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in 2002. She undertook her internship and Residency training at the Austin Hospital, and then Radiology training at the Monash Medical Centre. Ami commenced working as a Radiologist in 2006 and completed a Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College Radiology (RANZCR) in 2011.
Ami was inspired to become a radiologist because it encompasses so many specialties, and her daily caseload includes general radiology, nuclear medicine and procedural work.
As a consultant radiologist, Ami works predominantly in public hospital settings as a general radiologist, but she is also a specialist nuclear medicine physician. Ami also works in private hospitals and in regional NSW. She is hard working and organised and while her clinical approach is always methodical, she also understands the need to be flexible in the interpretation of findings.
