Philip Read

Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer 

Philip brings a wealth of experience and great depth of knowledge to his role at Imaging Associates, including extensive work internationally in senior roles, lecturing, serving on many committees and professional bodies, and as a published author.

Before joining Imaging Associates, Philip established and ran his own consulting firm, and in this capacity, worked across the health sector in areas including aged care, radiology and within private hospitals. Philip has worked internationally in Italy, Germany, Papua New Guinea and the United States on international committees for religious orders, including assignments in Vatican City. He also served as a director for public and private companies, not-for-profit organisations, and as the director, chairperson and CEO of a large aged care organisation.

Over the course of his career, Philip has served on many committees and professional bodies in relation to ethics, practice management, accounting standards, investigation and leadership. He has lectured extensively on ethics and leadership for service firms and written several articles for professional journals. He is also an author, having written a book titled, ‘How to audit small to medium enterprises’.

Although not himself a radiologist, Philip describes his role as CEO as being just like all IA’s staff and radiologists ‘all part of the same jigsaw puzzle’.

When Philip first joined Imaging Associates, the group was contracted only to Eastern Health. After a decade of hard work, under Philip’s leadership, Imaging Associates has expanded its operations across Victoria and NSW. Philip now leads a team of approximately 150 staff and radiologists and the radiologist owned company is currently contracted to provide imaging services to Eastern Health and Murrumbidgee Local Health District as well as operating private practices in Mitcham, Tecoma, Gippsland, Box Hill, and Wagga Wagga. 

As someone who doesn’t seek the limelight, Philip is self-effacing, preferring to steer and grow Imaging Associates from behind the scenes. Although not himself a radiologist, Philip describes his role as CEO as being just like all IA’s staff and radiologists ‘all part of the same jigsaw puzzle’.

Philip’s priorities as CEO are to provide leadership, strategy, vision and belonging. He has always made it his priority to be open and available to talk to every person, whether it is business related or just to provide a word of encouragement; he doesn’t like short cuts and is always honest with himself and everyone he deals with. He is rightly proud that his leadership style allows people the space, time, and opportunity to develop, and that he has helped build Imaging Associates as a business to last.
